About this Opportunity
We're excited to invite you to a hands-on habitat restoration project aimed at improving the nesting habitat of the endangered California Least Tern (Sterna antillarum browni). Help us by removing trash and invasive/introduced plant species to allow space for native plant species to reestablish. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about coastal dune ecosystems, native species, and to directly support the recovery of an endangered species.
Where to Meet: We'll follow up with detailed instructions via email before the event.
Parking: Parking will be free for volunteers!
Restrooms: Public restrooms are available at Huntington State Beach.
What to Bring: Wear layers for varying weather conditions, bring sun protection (e.g., hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.), closed-toed shoes, and a refillable water bottle.
Provided by Us: Training, tools, gloves (feel free to bring your own), and a water bottle refill station.
Waiver: All participants must sign two waivers prior to participating; our HBWC/OCH Waiver (https://forms.gle/6BdwZHtZdBhsNZDEA), and the Huntington State Beach Waiver which will be provided on-site.
We look forward to having you join us in the field!
