Opportunity Overview:
Join our education barnyard team and help with daily grooming of our Angora rabbits. Come any time of day that fits into your schedule. Brush rabbits, remove matted fur, trim their nail, and trim around their faces so they can see. Help keep our Angora rabbits looking beautiful for visitors and prevent them from getting wool block and other skin and health problems.
We are looking for a volunteer who is experienced with rabbits, either from pet or farm experience.
We ask volunteers to commit to once a week (weekdays only) for at least three months. Come join our team!
Reports to: Livestock Educator
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
- Groom rabbits including brushing, removing matted fur, and trimming nails
- Commit to a once a week schedule on the same day each week
- Experience with rabbits
- No rabbit allergies
- Ability to work alone and, once trained, unassisted
- 18 year old age minimum if volunteering alone, 14+ volunteers must come with an adult
Time Commitment: Volunteers area asked to come once per week between Monday-Friday anytime from 8am-7pm, except for Tuesdays when we already have a volunteer. Thursday or Fridays are preferred to give space between grooming sessions. This volunteer role is year-round and we ask for at least a 3-month commitment.
