South Llano River State Park - Park Host Maintenance

Maintenance Park Hosts at South Llano River State Park help with a variety of maintenance-related tasks, including maintaining bird watching blinds, feeding birds on a daily basis, checking facilities, mowing, picking up litter within the park boundaries, and other specialty projects for which the volunteer may have specific skill sets.

Preferred Qualifications: Must be comfortable talking in front of large crowds. Must be comfortable with changing terrain. Experience with Microsoft Word and other programs. Experience with outdoor skills. Experience with natural and cultural resource topics/techniques.

Required Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older. Passion for State Parks. Experience with customer service and ability to effectively communicate with public, other volunteers, and staff, experience with basic maintenance and custodial tasks. Essential opportunity functions require sitting for long periods of time, carrying, walking, and standing. Experience with basic maintenance equipment. Ability to maintain campsite as model sites.

Time Commitment: Minimum of 25 hours per week. Availability to volunteer on weekends and volunteer in the mornings and occasionally after-hours, coordinating hours and variable schedules with other host(s). Hosts must make a one-month commitment. After completing the first month, stay time may be extended with approval of park superintendent to maximum of 6 months.
