About this Opportunity
Campground Park Hosts at South Llano River SP help with a variety of campground-related tasks, including maintaining camping loop/walk-in, checking restroom facilities, stocking firewood, picking up litter within the park boundaries, and other specialty projects for which the volunteer may have specific skill sets.
Major Duties:
- Represent TPWD State Parks in a positive manner and supplement the work of park staff.
- Assist Park Headquarters with opening duties and report campsite vacancies as needed throughout the day.
- Provide customer service to park visitors, including selling firewood and providing general information and assistance to park visitors.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas, including picking up any litter from campsites after visitors leave, cleaning campfire rings as needed, and keeping restrooms stocked and cleaned. Flipping the reserved/available signs as needed.
- Assist with maintenance operations as assigned by maintenance specialist or volunteer supervisor. Duties may include mowing, landscaping, trash collection, or other light maintenance. Notify Park staff of any maintenance problems.
- Maintain safety standards of park. Do not use any equipment without proper training and sign-off of appropriate staff. Notify staff of any safety concerns. Never engage in law enforcement duties.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned host site.
Passion for Texas State Parks. Experience with customer service and ability to effectively communicate with public, other volunteers, and staff. Experience with basic maintenance and equipment use.
Essential opportunity functions require sitting for long periods of time, carrying, walking, and standing.
Criminal background check clearance.
Time Commitment: Minimum of 25 hours per week. Availability to volunteer on weekends and volunteer in the mornings and evenings, coordinating variable schedules and tasks with other host(s).
One-month commitment. May be extended upon review.
