About this Opportunity
JOB PURPOSE
The Renew Center is a free resource to our residents and community families. We do not charge for the items. Donations are accepted, sorted and organized to be readied to resupply the Center.Renew Center volunteers are responsible for helping guests find what they need in the actual Renew Center. This can be helping find the right toy, right size shoe or perfect outfit. Renew Storage volunteers are responsible for accepting, sorting, and organizing donations received as well as keeping the donations center clean and stocked for residents to shop. This is NOT opening the Renew Center for residents and clients.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
DONATION ROOM:
1. Process donations received at both ReNew Center and Parr Family Services building by designating items for:
-Direct use to agency residents
-Re-donation to a partner agency
-Disposal
2. Answer questions and concerns from potential donors, assist in unloading donated materials, and field concerns to Volunteer Coordinator
3. Maintain a clean and organized space in the ReNew large storage area located in the gym
4. Report maintenance issues to Volunteer ReNew Center Coordinator
5. Perform all other responsibilities/tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor
RENEW CENTER:
Maintaining CPCHs ReNew Center located inside the Gilbert-Parr Activities Building, including greeting donors, processing donations, helping residents of CPCH, and reporting to the Volunteer ReNew Center Coordinator
1. Process donations received at both ReNew Center and Parr Family Services building by designating items for:
-Direct use to agency residents
-Re-donation to a partner agency
-Disposal
2. Answer questions and concerns from potential donors, assist in unloading donated materials, and field concerns to Volunteer Coordinator
3. Maintain a clean and organized space in the ReNew Center and large storage area located in the gym
4. Communicate with cottage staff concerning the presence of Residential Care residents in the ReNew Center
5. Assist CPCH residents in finding useful items
6. Report maintenance issues to Volunteer ReNew Center Coordinator
7. Report any changes in your schedule to Volunteer ReNew Center Coordinator with adequate foresight
8. Perform all other responsibilities/tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor
Requirements for the DONATION Room for GROUPS
Because we value this service and must maintain licensing requirements the following eligibility is required:
Groups- visiting UP TO 4 times (once a quarter) a group event may be scheduled. One representative is requested complete Volunteer Training. NO UNSUPERVISED CONTACT WITH RESIDENTS.
All group members must submit an online application and sign up through our portal.
Groups- frequently visiting (more than once per quarter), members must complete and pass CR/DPS check, TB test and Volunteer Training. NO UNSUPERVISED CONTACT WITH RESIDENTS.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must consent, complete, and pass all background checks required by DFPS including: department of public safety, FBI fingerprinting, and DFPS central registry.
Must have a Tuberculosis test completed with a negative screening.
Must complete volunteer orientation.

Able to lift and handle at least 40 pounds

Ability to describe agency to donors and answer related questions
Basic Directions:
Sort the clothes, put them on the racks, and when they're ready trade out old stuff in the renew center for the new stuff on the orange racks.
Unwanted items, or items we cannot make available to our residents are re-donated responsibly. Place them in black bags with a LABEL of contents and RE-DONATE
The general rules of sorting are on posters in the back room. Put extra emphasis on re-donating any clothes that wouldn't meet school dress codes. Basically, new or gently used items are kept.
