About this Opportunity

JOB PURPOSE

Food Services is responsible for ensuring all of our residents and clients have access to affordable food. Volunteer should be a self-motivated, highly energetic individual who understands the nutritional needs for a wide range of people. The ideal volunteer will have a service-oriented attitude. They will follow dietary standards for our residents and provide one-on-one coaching on an as-needed basis.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Different duties are expected for different days.

Administrative support: Admin in the food program will support the Food Coordinator in areas of needs. These are mainly "as assigned" duties, tasks such as but not limited to: editing documents, entering shopping lists, entering receipts, checking logs. Admin hours may be schedule as needed but must be approved by the Food Coordinator. Hours vary based on needs and availability.

Monday:
Pulling stock for the NEXT week: 2 hours, 10-12 pm. Involves using the NEXT week NEEDS list, pull stock from pantry. Place stock in marked refrigerators, marked cottage shelves. Any items NOT found on the list in the pantry need to be MARKED for Tuesdays shopping. Please bring to the attention of the Food Coordinator needed items. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.

Journeys Meal - 2x per month: 3 hours, 5-7 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in preparing the campus meal for SPF and help clean up.
5:00 pm - begin prep and cook based on cooking needs. Meal should be set up and ready by 10 minutes til 6:00 pm
6:00 pm - serve meal
6:30 pm - clean up kitchen and put extra food away to be delivered to cottages. Kitchen closes.
7:00 pm - clock out


Tuesday:
Food Pick Up: 2 hours, 10-12 pm. Riding along with Food Coordinator to purchase shopping items. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.

Food Stocking and Pulling: 2 hours, 12-2 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in stocking and putting away purchased food. Stock needs from Mondays Stock Pull for Wednesday Pickups. Make sure all items are on shelves for Wednesday Food Pick Ups by Cottage. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.


Wednesday:
Cottage Food Delivery: 4 hours, 10-2 pm. Assist cottage in retrieving the next weeks food items and stocking them in the cottage. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.

Wacky Wednesday Food Prep and Clean Up: 3 hours, 5-7 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in preparing the campus meal for Wacky Wednesday and help clean up.
5:00 pm - begin prep and cook based on cooking needs
6:00 pm - serve meal
6:30 pm - Clean up kitchen and put extra food away to be delivered to cottages
7:00 pm - Clock out

All Staff - 1x per month: 4 hours, 9-12 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in preparing all staff meal, set up needed supplies, clean up.


Thursday:
Rotate Food in Cottages/Inventory Food in Cottages: 1 hour per cottage, 10-1 pm. Using the list to make sure oldest food is to the front of the storage area, that cottage has needed items, and to make sure no cottage has too much. Mark needs and bring extra items to Parr Pantry.

Friday:
Essential Needed Item Shopping: 4 hours, 10-2 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in shopping for needed weekend items, put items away in cottage or in pantry.

Parr Pantry Specifics:
Fold any empty food boxes down, that are in pile and bring to recycling bin.
Remove items from counters and dust off particles, then scrub/disinfect, replace items as they were.
Remove cans/food items from cabinets, dust and disinfect inside the cabinets, then replace items as they were.
Take out food ((MAKE SURE TO NOT MIX UP ITEMS)) from each fridge and scrub and disinfect inside of fridges.
*Make sure to not get cleaning supplies or chemicals on food.

Cottage Kitchen Specifics:

Checking for supplies, broken, needed, excess etc...
Throwing out any excess or expired food.
Organizing
Deep cleaning
Observing what the cottages still need

Meal Prepping and Shopping Specifics
Assist with the shopping needs for the campus
Assist in prepping for the weekly meals as directed by Food Services Coordinator
Coach clients and residents in food prepping, food preparing
Wednesday nights- assist in preparing, serving campus meal
Special Events- assist in preparing, serving at special events on campus.

Must be 16 years of age or older.
Must consent, complete, and pass all background checks required by DFPS including: department of public safety, FBI fingerprinting, and DFPS central registry.
Must complete volunteer orientation.
Must have a Tuberculosis test completed with a negative screening.
Must have Food Handler's Certification (depending on the job).
