About this Opportunity

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is looking for volunteers to act as Caregiver Coaches. This program will match volunteers to caregivers who are caring for an aging or disabled loved one. Volunteers are trained to help caregivers identify needs and obstacles, explore and select options, and offer encouragement. Coaches can be guides, sounding boards, researchers, cheerleaders, encouragers, calmer-downers or lifter-uppers.

Volunteers must be able to, or be willing to learn, to use the tablet that will be provided by the program to keep notes on their meetings with caregivers. Volunteers also need reliable internet and telephone access.

Volunteers must be willing to undergo the 1 day (approx. 8 hr) long training over Zoom.
Otherwise, volunteers are only asked to commit to 1-2 hours per month in order to keep their status as a volunteer. Exact day and times TBD and change monthly, and are largely dependent on the availability of the volunteer and the caregiver they are matched with.

Volunteers will go through some background checks.

RSVP is for volunteers age 55 and up. Provide your phone number when applying.Email [email protected] or call 734-971-9781 ext. 377.
