About this Opportunity
The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is seeking volunteers to offer companionship visits to those in hospice.
Tasks may include:
-Staying with patients so family members can get a much-needed rest
-Reading, or providing a comforting hand to hold
-Playing or singing soothing music to patients
-Keeping vigil with patients in their final hours
-Providing a friendly visit to lift a patient's spirits
-Providing special veteran volunteer support to patients who are veterans
For the safety of clients, all volunteers must agree to background checks, TB tests, drug test, and flu shot (available for free through the organization.)All volunteers must either be COVID vaccinated or get tested twice weekly for COVID and wear an N95 mask and a face shield/goggles when visiting patients or working in the office. Vaccinated volunteers must wear a surgical mask while volunteering.
All volunteers must complete extensive training via Zoom.
Time commitments are flexible. RSVP volunteers should serve at least 1 hour per month in order to stay active. Volunteer opportunities are county-wide and can be matched to be as geographically close to you as needed.
