About this Opportunity
Hospice patients in Washtenaw Countywho are veterans would like to talk to people who understand their experience. Please, answer the call to duty. If you are a veteran, please volunteer to visit them through Heartland Hospice (formerly ProMedica Hospice).
Volunteers must be at least 18-years-old to visit patients. Heartland (formerly ProMedica Hospice, now part of Gentiva) requires all volunteers to get the annual flu shot and provides it for free. Volunteers must get their annual COVID shot and provide proof. Volunteers must complete two initial TB skin tests (available for free in the Heartland Ann Arbor office). They must also get an initial and an annual background check and drug screening (all paid for by Heartland). All volunteers must complete an N95 mask fit test. Volunteers must be willing to have a copy of their driver's license or other ID, and car insurance (if the volunteer drives) in their files. We provide extensive training, including orientation and continuing education, to ensure volunteers are fully prepared for their work.
