About this Opportunity

The Pathways Center for Grief and Loss provides free bereavement support services to the local Lancaster community and is hereto help meet the individual needs of anyone in our service area region who is coping with the serious illness or loss of a loved one. From support groups, individual counseling, online support, childrens support groups and more, we welcome the opportunity to support you.

The Pathways Center seeks volunteers to help support the following roles:

  • Foyer Greeter: Welcomes guests to the Pathways Center, provides administrative support to staff.
  • Bereavement Volunteer: Supports Pathways staff in providing support and companionship to persons who have experienced the death of a loved one, either by personal calls/visits or co-facilitating support groups. Volunteers are also needed to make check-in calls to family members of patients who have passed in the care of Hospice & Community Care.
  • Coping Kids & Teens Bereavement Volunteer: Provides emotional support, companionship and/or participation in group or individual activities with children who have experienced a loss.
  • Camp Chimaqua: Camp Chimaqua is a weekend camp for children ages 6-10 which occurs the last weekend in May. Camp "Buddy" volunteers are paired with a camper to provide individual support to a bereaved child during the weekend camp experience.

To become a Pathways Center for Grief & Loss volunteer, you just need to have a compassionate heart and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Training is provided for all volunteers, with both in-person and online options offered throughout the year. A team of dedicated Volunteer Coordinators are available to provide continued support.
