About this Opportunity
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
The Texas Gulf Coast Region is looking for a leader to work alongside the Regional Preparedness Manager to provide support thus ensuring the communities within our 51 counties have access and are receiving disaster preparedness services. The two main preparedness program are:
Sound the Alarm. Save a Life. events: In these one day events volunteers and community partners team up to install FREE smoke alarms in homes and help make families safer by creating fire escape plans.
Pillowcase Preparedness: These presentations for elementary aged students not only teach the children about disaster preparedness, but about the science behind the disaster (thus making them less scary) and coping techniques to help them stay calm.
Ideal candidates will be willing to learn the doctrine supporting Red Cross preparedness They will have project management experience and have successfully collaborated with partners on projects, programs or events. This volunteer will need to be able to give presentationsto children as well as adults.
Time Commitment will vary, but some daytime/weekday availability will be needed.
