About this Opportunity

Become a Volunteer Community Teacher inFall 2022.

Teach what you know and LOVE!

At just one hour per week, On the Road helps you share your passion with middle and high school youth, exposing them to your career, and inspiring the next generation. Our goal is to create a unique, impactful volunteer experience for you that allows you to make a difference in the lives of local youth and sharpen your own professional skills. You can change students lives in just one afternoon for 10 weeks.

Career Enrichmentclasses are the centerpiece of ourafterschool learning programs. Our Community Teachers have taught more than 60 career classes over the past three years, including coding, real estate, barbering, environmental science, construction, teaching, music, law, theatre, just to name a few!

From an initial consultation to ongoing classroom support to help with logistics, we are with you every step of the way.

About On the Road Collaborative:

On the Road Collaborative is a local nonprofit that connects underserved middle and high school youth to dynamic educational experiences and caring adults during the out-of-school hours, helping to set them on the road to college and career. Weserve more than300 youth annually across our afterschool programsat Skyline Middle School, Thomas Harrison Middle School, and Harrisonburg High School. Our programstypically operate afterschool(Mondays-Thursdays) from 2:45-5:30 p.m. throughout the school year and we provide academic support, career enrichment and leadership development programming.
