About this Opportunity
The SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) Program provides free, unbiased and up-to-date health insurance information, counseling, and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries of all ages and their caregivers. SHINE counselors help older persons (and younger disabled Medicare beneficiaries) understand their Medicare benefits and other health insurance options. SHINE counselors may review present coverage, provide written comparisons of plans, protect Medicare beneficiaries from paying for bills they should not pay, and prevent paying for unnecessary duplicate coverage. SHINE counselors also help with claim forms and applications, and will make referrals when appropriate. SHINE counselors are available to meet with individuals in person through one-on-one counseling, via telephone, email, and through public education presentations.
