This is an exceptional opportunity to make a tangible difference through essential routine care and support within a unique therapeutic setting. Flexible hours are available, spanning days, evenings, and weekends to accommodate your schedule.

Your Impactful Responsibilities:

  • Proactive Animal Health Assessments: Participate in conducting regular health evaluations of our Emotional Support Animals farm residents, playing a crucial role in early detection and preventative care.

  • Essential Husbandry Support: Provide vital routine care, including precise nail trimming for our smaller companions and expert beak and spur trimming for our feathered friends.

  • Championing Seasonal Well-being: Contribute to ensuring optimal comfort and health for our animals throughout the changing seasons, from providing cozy shelter to recognizing and addressing environmental stressors.

  • Meticulous Record Management: Create an organized and accurate records keeping method concerning our animals' health and care protocols.

  • First-Response Support: Administer skillful first aid for minor animal injuries under established protocols and supervision if needed.

  • Integral Animal Care Team Member: Collaborate with fellow farm staff and volunteers on a variety of animal husbandry tasks, contributing to a cohesive and supportive environment.

  • What You'll Bring to Our Team:

Ideally, you possess experience as a Licensed Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician; however, individuals with significant and relevant animal care experience, particularly with farm animals or poultry, are also encouraged to apply.

    • A solid understanding of fundamental animal health and welfare best practices.

    • Confidence and comfort in respectfully handling a variety of farm animal species.

    • Keen observational skills with the ability to recognize subtle signs of animal discomfort or illness.

    • Exceptional attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to providing the highest standards of care.

    • The ability to effectively follow instructions and thrive within a collaborative team environment.

    • A deep-seated passion for animal welfare that aligns with the core values of Healing By Growing Farms.

    • Proven commitment, trustworthiness, loyalty, and reliability in previous roles.

Flexibility in your schedule, with availability across days, evenings, and weekends as needed.

    Your Meaningful Commitment:

We are seeking individuals who can dedicate 2-5 hours per month or more with a flexible schedule. Your ability to visit our East Haven farm on a regular basis, particularly during key seasons or as specific needs arise, will be highly valued.
