About this Opportunity
The Turnbull ChildDevelopment Center provides nurturing, high quality early childhood developmentand care.
This volunteerposition ROCKS! RSVP Infant Companions spend special time with infants by rocking,reading and interacting one-on-one.
The infant room isfully staffed with dedicated teachers who supervise and take care of all thebasic needs (read: they change the diapers). The volunteers role is tosupplement that care by spreading a little extra joy through their interactionswith the infants.
Studies showthat positive, one-on-one social interaction contributes to infant brain,physical and language development and helps them build trust and confidence. Youare a part of that healthy development! (and its good for YOU, too)
Duties:
Interact with infants by rocking, reading and talking with them
Practice safe sleep methods by placing infants ontheir backs to sleep
Protect the privacy and confidentiality cof infantsand their families
Skills required:
Must be 55 years of age or better.
Relate well to staff, volunteers and infants andwork with a team approach.
Ability to lift to 20 pounds.
Amount of Time: 2 hours, varies we will work with yourschedule
Time of Day: As available during daycare hours, Mondaythrough Friday
Supervised by: Volunteers willbe directly supervised Classroom Teachers/Director.
