Checking Visitor Passes: Various Months 2020 (RV Site Available)

Looking for an RV-owning couple to come live and volunteer in Zion for three months sometime between Mid-February through December 2020.

Volunteers at Zion’s Pedestrian Entrance provide a valuable point of contact for visitors walking into the park from the town of Springdale. Volunteers are official representatives of the National Park Service and are required to wear the NPS park volunteer uniform while on duty. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Checking visitor passes (annual passes, senior passes, receipts, etc) and giving directions at park’s Pedestrian Entrance. Volunteers will work five days/week; one volunteering from 9 am until noon, and the second VIP working from noon until 3 pm. This schedule is the reason a couple is ideal.

• Providing a variety of visitor information on hiking trails, the shuttle system, Jr Ranger program, ranger-led programs, backcountry permits, and/or other activities within the park.  

Requirements:

• Ability to work independently
• Ability to provide good communication and customer service to domestic and international visitors of all backgrounds and abilities
• Ability to stand outside for three hours at a time in either hot or cold weather
• Possess own RV/5th wheel.  

Desired:

• Previous experience working with visitors/customers
• Ability to learn about the park quickly.

Summer weather conditions in the desert include extreme temperatures (105+ degrees) and direct sun with little shade. Inclement conditions during the monsoon season include rain, lightning, and flash flooding. 

Park will provide a level RV spot with electrical hook-up (50 amp). There is a dump station at the campground to fill with water and dump gray/black water. Duty station is a short walk from volunteer's RV.
