About this Opportunity
The Butterfly Gardens at the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site were established to promote the strength and beauty of the multitude of butterfly species native to Southwest Georgia. During the growing season, volunteers are needed to help upkeep the splendor of one of our four gardens by meticulously and thoughtfully tending to it. Duties will include weeding and removing time worn plants and replacing them with seasonal flowers provided by the National Park Service. Also, we request that our volunteers capture photos of the gardens as the season progresses. By regularly documenting our stunning gardens and exceptional butterflies, our social media followers will be able to enjoy their exquisiteness as much as we do! All equipment will be provided.
Volunteer may be required to pass a federal background check.
Plains, GA is home to the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. Join the volunteer program of the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site and help preserve his wholesome and down-to-earth upbringing, sense of social responsibility, and compassion towards all men and women. Our goal is to educate visitors about President Carter’s rural beginnings, his time in office, and the contributions he has made to humanity in the years following his presidency. By volunteering with the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, you will have the unique opportunity to form a bond with this outstanding community while simultaneously helping others learn how a modest young man became President of the United States.
