About this Opportunity
TIME REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of one day a week (4-8 hour shift)
SUPERVISOR: Lead Interpretive Ranger
DUTIES:
Volunteer Education Program Assistants will:
? Present curriculum based programs to students (1st Grade through High School) at the park,
? Present outreach education programs at schools in Rutherford and adjacent counties,
? Research and prepare new curriculum based lesson plans and education programs, and
? Assist park rangers in managing the administrative tasks related to the park?s education program.
Scheduling flexibility is key requirement for this position. During peak education program periods (September-early December & April-May), Volunteer Education Program Assistants may be asked to work for 2-3 hours on three or more day per week depending on demand.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION: ? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ? Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner, ? Ability to work independently, ? General knowledge of the Civil War and the Battle of Stones River are desirable, ? Must be able to stand for long periods of time, ? Must be able to speak clearly, and ? Must be able to walk three miles.
