About this Opportunity
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as a member of Interpretation and Education staff.
- Roves cave trails assisting visitors as needed
- Presents short interpretive talks on various subjects while in the cave.
- Verbally enforces cave rules as needed.
- Staffs Visitor Center Information Desk (answering the phone, making public announcements etc.)
- Assists with visitor count on at cave elevators assuring visitor understands directions for calling and loading elevator to ride up to visitor center
- Presents cave orientations to visitors.
- Operates elevator control at Visitor Center
- Understands and accurately dispenses information about the park’s history, geology, natural habitats, and operations.
- Treats coworkers and visitors in a polite, professional manner.
- Follows schedules in a timely manner.
- Will be issued schedules in two week increments with assigned duties to volunteer duties will fluctuate on a daily basis.
- Volunteer will be scheduled three (3) lieu days per week
- Volunteer will volunteer minimum 32 hours per week
- Volunteer may assist park rangers with off-trial tours some may require hiking, strenuous activity, navigating tight places and working in the dark for three to four hours at a time.
