About this Opportunity

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a member of Interpretation and Education staff.
  • Roves cave trails assisting visitors as needed
  • Presents short interpretive talks on various subjects while in the cave.
  • Verbally enforces cave rules as needed.
  • Staffs Visitor Center Information Desk (answering the phone, making public announcements etc.)
  • Assists with visitor count on at cave elevators assuring visitor understands directions for calling and loading elevator to ride up to visitor center 
  • Presents cave orientations to visitors.
  • Operates elevator control at Visitor Center
  • Understands and accurately dispenses information about the park’s history, geology, natural habitats, and operations.
  • Treats coworkers and visitors in a polite, professional manner.
  • Follows schedules in a timely manner.
  • Will be issued schedules in two week increments with assigned duties to volunteer duties will fluctuate on a daily basis.  
  • Volunteer will be scheduled  three (3) lieu days per week
  • Volunteer will volunteer minimum 32 hours per week
  • Volunteer may assist park rangers with off-trial tours some may require hiking, strenuous activity, navigating tight places and working in the dark for three to four hours at a time.
