Cave Tour Assistant (Local Commuting Area)

Gap Cave is located within the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park just inside the Virginia state line. The cave tour consists of .5 mile hike to the entrance of the cave, .5 mile hike inside the cave, and then a .5 mile hike back. Temperatures hold at approx. 56 degrees within the cave year round. Walking surface consist of gravel/dirt trail (outside) and a concrete trail inside the cave. The tour is considered strenuous but at no point during the tour route will it be required to crawl, squeeze or climb.

Responsibilities

• Assist rangers in gathering and distributing flashlights
• Give safety talks and tips
• Open and close cave gates
• Follow behind the group to ensure visitor safety
• Provide visitors with accurate information

• No housing available
• This is a nonpaid position 
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must posses a valid drivers license
