About this Opportunity

TIME REQUIREMENTS: At least one day per week (4-8 hour shift)

SUPERVISOR: Park Ranger (Protection)

DUTIES:

Accessions and catalogs museum objects, archives and library items. Monitors environmental conditions. Performs routine housekeeping tasks. Conducts research using museum and library collections. Prepares or update museum management procedures and plans. Performs conservation treatment of museum objects, and conducts collection inventories.

Volunteers may also be assigned special projects based on their skills and interests including digitizing park photographs and archives, designing temporary museum exhibits, and creating park publications and web pages.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,

Ability to work independently,

Ability to concentrate on and perform repetitive tasks,

Some knowledge or experience in museum and library fields is desirable but not required,

General knowledge of the Civil War and the Battle of Stones River is desirable,

Ability to use computers.
