About this Opportunity
Job Title: Bicycle Patrol
Overview: Mountain Bike Patrol of Park Trails
Opportunity Description: Volunteers are needed to provide bicycle patrol on approved bike trails within the parks and provide feedback to park staff.
Duties: 1. Patrol trails and interacts with cyclists and trail users. Provides information and education about park regulations and policies. 2. Patrol trails and report back to park staff on maintenance needs including downed trees, signage, and more. 3. Patrol trails and report back to park staff on criminal activities including vandalism, dog off leash, ATV use, drug and alcohol violations, suspicious activity, and other violations. 4. Provide volunteer labor in conjunction with park staff for trail improvements.
Work Location: Various locations throughout the park
Work Environment: Must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions. Volunteers will need appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including bike helmet. Bicycles not provided. Rugged, rocky, wooded, and sometimes steep terrain can be expected.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Required: Able to communicate and work with others. Ability to ride a mountain bike off road and on trails. Ability to use hand tools to perform trail work.A moderate to high level of physical fitness. Desired: Ability to use a digital camera and GPS unit. Local knowledge of the park and surrounding area. Prior experience.
Schedule and Time Commitment Work schedule is flexible. Weekdays and weekends during daylight hours can be arranged. Schedule will be coordinated with appropriate park staff.
Housing Housing and/or RV sites are not available for this position.
