About this Opportunity
The Mount Rogers National Recreation Area is looking for volunteers to fill several visitor center staff positions.
The Pat Jennings Visitor Center is located in a peaceful mountain setting adjacent to the Appalachian Trail. With many activities available in the area including hiking, camping, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, sight-seeing, bird watching, trout fishing, and swimming, there are a wide range of visitors passing through the center each day.
Dates: May 1st - October 31st
Volunteers will serve 6-8 hours/day for 2-5 days/week. This allows time to experience the Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area on your days off!
Duties Include:
-
Provide visitor information
-
Sell interpretive materials
-
Light cleaning
-
Answering the phone
-
Educate visitors on trail safety and hazards
-
Light trail maintenance
Housing and reimbursement may be provided as necessary. We prefer that this position be handled by a duo of volunteers due to high traffic to the center.
