About this Opportunity
We are now accepting applications for RV volunteers to work at Mount Locust Inn and Plantation on the Natchez Trace Parkway (milepost 15.5) near Natchez, MS.
We are now recruiting for the following tour of duty:
- Summer 2020 (June - July)
Volunteers at Mount Locust independently run the visitor contact station and information desk as well as perform informal roving on the grounds of Mount Locust. Mount Locust serves as the Parkway's southern point of contact with visitors, and VIPs are often the first park representatives visitors meet. As a VIP at Mount Locust, you'll be expected to answer routine questions about the Parkway and its history, give directions, do light housekeeping duties, and operate the cash register for the Eastern National sales outlet.
This is a good opportunity and fit for volunteers interested in:
- Talking to a wide variety of visitors from around the world.
- Providing outstanding customer service and not being afraid to go "above and beyond."
Requirements include:
- Must successfully pass a background check to be selected for this position.
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Wear the provided uniform shirt and name badge.
- Represent the National Park Service in a professional manner.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- An interest in learning about the park’s resources, programs, trails, and regulations and sharing that knowledge with the visiting public.
- One person committing to volunteering at least 32 hours per week, two people volunteering at least 24 hours each per week.
