About this Opportunity
Duties:
The Visitor Center Assistant will be stationed at the front desk in the visitor’s center in order to greet visitors upon their arrival and disseminate information about the park. Duties of the Visitor Center Assistant include but are not limited to:
- Giving directions and distributing maps
- Distributing program and other park information
- Answering general battle questions
- Answering the phone and responding to public inquiries
- Answering any other questions or referring visitors to another staff member
- Directing visitors to and operating the park film
- Recording the number of visitors
- Stamping passports
- Monitoring stocks of brochures and handouts
- Cash register operations
- Keeping the desk neat
Minimum Commitment:
8 hours a week.
Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and be friendly, polite, and respectful
- Enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Knowledge of park organization and operations
- Familiarity with park layout, resources, programs and regulations
- General knowledge of Civil War and Fort Donelson
