About this Opportunity
Fort Union National Monument is looking for a well-organized, detail-oriented person to help maintain and operate its park library.
Duties include caring for books and reference files, checking books in and out, helping maintain a variety of historical files and researching answers to queries from the public and park staff. A long-time volunteer now manages the library. New volunteers would be trained by and work under the guidance of the senior volunteer librarian. The work is indoors and involves periods of time filing, standing and bending. We are looking for a regular time commitment of at least one day (five to seven consecutive hours) every two weeks. Library experience is not required.
There is no housing available at the monument, so this position would only be suitable for people within commuting distance of Watrous, NM. Volunteers may have to pass a federal background check.
