Interpretation/ Visitor Center Assistant

Activities/ Responsibilities

• Provide information and assistance to park visitors
• Staff park visitor center desk (may also staff park vistor contact station)
• Operate Eastern National cash register
• Work directly with interpretive rangers and Eastern National staff on a wide range of projects and activities
• Interpretive roving of trails, overlooks and park campground
• Use of park two-way radio and telephones
• Assist with Gap Cave tours (1.5 miles of hiking, 183 stairs)
• Assist with park organized events
• Assist with living history demonstrations
• Conduct formal and informal programs
• Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor

Duration: September and October 2020

Estimated total hours per week: 32 hour minimum

Uniform Requirements

Volunteer will be required to wear an official VIP uniform while on duty.
