About this Opportunity

Join the Six Rivers Volunteer Team! Award-winning volunteer program located in the heart of the Klamath Mountains. Surrounded by Wilderness areas, Wild and Scenic Rivers, Scenic Byways, abundant wildlife and some of the best fishing in the state, this opportunity won't be available for long.

Fish Lake Campground is located approximately 1780 feet above sea level in a mixed hardwood and conifer forest with many fir and Port-Orford-Cedar trees. The campground and area's location, 20 miles south from the town of Orleans, 12 miles north of the town of Weitchpec and 8 miles from the Klamath River, makes it an ideal location to participate in the area's many recreation activities.

Fishing, swimming and whitewater rafting are all close by in the Klamath, Trinity and Salmon Rivers. Campers can hike a system of trails (Blue Lake, Red Lake and Fish Lake trails) totaling 5 miles that exist around the perimeter of Fish Lake. Trails are accessible by trailheads located at the boat ramp and within the campground. Visitors can also enjoy fishing for trout, blue-gill, and bass in the lake or explore native plants and wildlife.

There are five vault-type unisex accessible restrooms, and all 24 campsites are furnished with wooden tables and combination fire ring grills. Drinking water is available at the campground. A boat ramp is also available at the campground.

Duties: Greeting the public, assisting in registration and reservations, light maintenance and assisting in visitor emergencies will be required. All necessary training will be provided. A side-by-side utility task vehicle (UTV) may be provided for use in the campground.
