Living History Volunteer- Soldier Programs and Historic Weapons Demonstrations

Living History Soldiers present soldier life talks and musket or artillery firing demonstartions on a regular basis to groups of adults and children.  Training and tour outlines are provided by the park.  National Park Service Rangers are available to help with training, program development and presentation.  It is beneficial if applicants possess a general knowledge of American history, especially 18th century and F&I War history, and  have the ability to speak before groups of people.  Knowledge of soldier life in the 18th century British & French armies is a plus, as well as a general knowledge of the materiel culture of the F&I War & Seven Years War.

There may also by opportunities to present guided programs and tours to Fort Necessity, the site of George Washington’s first military action during the opening battle of the French and Indian War.

Training begins the first week in June.  A minimum eight-week or 250 hour commitment is preferred.
