Missisquoi is home to hundreds of bird species with up to 20,000 birds migrating through annually. This makes for specular birding and wildlife photography opportunities. Bordering Lake Champlain and with the Missisquoi River at your doorstep there are numerous opportunities for boating and fishing. The refuge contains five trails that go through marshes, forests, and bog areas. Biking trails are accessible within a short drive.
This position will be focused on providing high quality customer service to guests of the refuge. This includes providing guests with a warm welcome to the modern visitor center and giving up to date information about recreation opportunities and wildlife information.Selling recreation passes as well as book store items are also part of this position. Light cleaning of visitor areas may be required. There may be opportunities to complete projects with maintenance and resource staff. Most of the duties of this position will be spent in a climate controlled indoor setting. The office is a dog friendly workspace.
You will be required to pass a background check and wear a volunteer shirt. Work schedule will include weekends and the occasional evening. RV sites with full hookup are available to couples who each volunteer 24 hours or individuals who volunteer 32 hours. Laundry facilities are also available at RV pads.
