About Mentor A Promise
Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, social-emotional learning, academic enrichment, and creative expression, MAP provides safe, consistent, and empowering spaces for young people to thrive. Volunteers are the heart of our mission, and we are building strong systems to ensure they feel supported and equipped to make a lasting impact.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Volunteer HR Coordinator to support the day-to-day operations of MAP’s Human Resources team. This role will focus on volunteer onboarding, recordkeeping, and coordination of HR processes to ensure a smooth and supportive experience for all volunteers. It is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit HR, people operations, or organizational development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the onboarding process, including communication, documentation, and orientation scheduling
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and HR databases
- Support compliance with HR policies and procedures
- Coordinate communication between HR leadership and volunteers
- Help organize HR initiatives such as training, engagement activities, and feedback collection
- Provide administrative support to the HR team and Director of HR
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, Gmail)
- Interest in HR, nonprofit management, or people operations
- Prior HR or administrative experience (preferred but not required)
Commitment
- Volunteer role, approximately 5–10 hours per week
- Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
- Fully remote with virtual meetings
