Position Overview:
The Peace Economy Project is seeking friendly and welcoming volunteers to serve as Greeters for the Valentine’s Day Vigil Against Gun Violence. Greeters will be the first point of contact for attendees, ensuring a warm and inclusive atmosphere as we gather to honor victims, support survivors, and advocate for an end to gun violence.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome Guests:
- Greet attendees warmly as they arrive at the event.
- Provide programs, maps, and any materials needed for the event.
- Information Support:
- Answer basic questions about the event schedule, activities, and venue layout.
- Direct attendees to seating areas, restrooms, and refreshments.
- Provide information about accessibility options and assist as needed.
- Registration Assistance:
- Help check in attendees and collect contact information for follow-up communications.
- Distribute name tags, candles, or other items as part of the vigil program.
- Atmosphere and Engagement:
- Encourage guests to participate in event activities and sign petitions or donation forms.
- Maintain a positive and calm presence to ensure attendees feel welcomed and supported.
- Support Other Teams:
- Assist with set-up and clean-up as needed.
- Help the usher and safety teams manage crowd flow and answer questions.
Requirements:
- Friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (with breaks).
- Reliable, punctual, and organized.
- Passion for community advocacy and social justice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or event support (not required).
- Ability to handle questions with professionalism and empathy.
- Multilingual skills are a plus but not required.
