About this Opportunity
The dialogue about mental health issues is heating up, with an emphasis on public policy and government intervention. But more important is the individual; and the impact a good friend can have to mitigate effects of anxiety, mild depression, compulsive behaviors and blindness on daily lives. There are two ladies in Wethersfield, New Britain and more in surrouding towns - who are receiving proper medical care and are not a threat to others or self, but their blindness and their anxieties make it difficult for them to make friends or keep them. If you can go for a short walk, read, shop or sort mail for either of these ladies and be patient and understanding of the struggles they face this opportunity is for you. All it takes to make a difference is
a desire to help others;
a pleasant demeanor;
a good reading/speaking voice;
average reading skills;
organizational or planning abilities;
a good driving record;
a clear criminal history;
two references
access to a car with proof of insurance;
a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.
