25-26 Groove With Me Program Expansion VISTA

Groove With Me is a free dance school for girls in East Harlem. We attract and engage girls during idle out-of-school time and builds self-confidence to prevent risk-taking behaviors. For almost 30 years, we have been focused on fueling leadership, confidence, creativity, and discipline in young women. The program offers a safe, supportive space for self-expression and fostering positive choices to girls aged 5-18, living in East Harlem and the South Bronx.

In January 2024, we opened a studio double in size. It has 4 classrooms and the ability to house 80 weekly classes with 15 girls a class, or 1200 participants. The Groove With Me Expansion VISTA will be instrumental in making sure every qualified child knows about the opportunity so that they can flourish in a safe place during this stressful time.

You will re-envision & upgrade marketing materials such as social media, press, flyers, and communications. Your input will be critical in determining the schedule of classroom use and the need for teachers & staff. Strengthening your networking skills, you will cultivate communication with hundreds of community connections.

As a VISTA Fellow at Groove With Me, you¿ll gain hands-on experience in nonprofit leadership, community outreach, and program development, all while making a lasting impact in the lives of young people in East Harlem.
