Inter-Faith Food Shuttle

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle envisions a hunger freecommunity. We FEED our neighbors, TEACH self-sufficiency, GROWhealthy foods by cultivating innovative approaches to end hunger. We focus oneasing hunger and addressing food insecurity, the first steps in creatingstability and equity. Doing what we do best, we support partners in bringingtheir own strengths to improving our communities. We have served the sevencounties of central NC for 35 years and are a member of the Feeding Americanetwork of 200 food banks across the nation.

The Food Shuttle recovers and distributes over 12million pounds of food per year, and teaches skills for self-sufficiencyincluding culinary job skills, shopping and cooking healthy on a budget, andhow to grow food. Almost 35% of what we distribute is fresh produce. This foodcomes from retail food donations, the Food Shuttle Farm, volunteer fooddrives,and field gleaning. We feed people through programs such asBackPack Buddies, Mobile Markets, Grocery Bags for Seniors, School Pantries, TheSpinning Plate Food Truck, and by partnering with over 70 local agencies inneighborhoods throughout our service area to reach people at their point ofneed.
