Help Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Cultivate Our Geer Street Learning Garden!

Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is a North Carolina basednon-profit organization, and partner with the Feeding America Network. OurLearning Gardens fall under our "GROW" initiative - helping to combatfood insecurity by bringing neighbors together to promote local food production.

The Geer Street Learning Garden is aflourishing urban green space located between one of the most vulnerable censustracts and one of the most prosperous business districts in Durham. The gardenhas twelve vegetable beds, community garden beds, fruit trees, an outdoorkitchen, a small greenhouse, a vermicompost system, a perennial rain garden, apollinator garden and areas for community gatherings...all on only aquarter-acre lot! Conveniently located in Durhams urban food corridor,the garden neighbors include Reinvestment Partners, Farmer Foodshare, and anurban demonstration apiary managed by Bee Downtown. The heart of the GeerStreet Learning Garden is the countless community partnerships we have built inDurham.

During a shift, volunteers will assist with generalgardening tasks such as seasonal harvesting, packing, planting, weeding,pruning, mulching, and greenhouse work. Come prepared to bend, kneel, andlift medium to heavy items to complete our daily tasks.
