Boaz & Ruth creates holistic, innovative solutions to uplift individuals facing challenges like unemployment, underemployment, incarceration, and rehabilitation—empowering them to achieve independence while revitalizing the Highland Park community. By consistently driving positive change, we’ve partnered with others to reduce crime by 67% and restore over a dozen commercial and residential properties—powerful symbols of renewed lives and a revitalized neighborhood.

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:

Volunteer is responsible for providing social media content and support across Boaz & Ruth’s social media platforms. The social media volunteer will be responsible for driving engagement, building a social media presence and creating high quality, original content, as well as responding to comments and messages across platforms. 

Approximate Time Required: 2-4 hours per week

Location: Most work can be performed remotely

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Implement/schedule content across all channels (on average two posts per week, per channel). Current social media channels include – two Facebook accounts, two Instagram channels (Boaz & Ruth & Harvest Thrift). 
  • Managing our online communities to ensure respectful and appropriate engagement.
  • Responding to comments on each of our accounts
  • Running social media campaigns
  • Analyzing data to determine whether social media campaigns have achieved their objectives
  • Attending Boaz & Ruth Communications Team Meetings

Qualifications: 

  • Experience creating original social media content - graphics and short videos
  • Experience with canva 
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines and implement them in designs
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and active listening)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Creativity, initiative, and enthusiasm
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • High level of professionalism, confidence, and ethical standards
  • Hours will be logged and verified through our volunteer log - court ordered volunteers accepted on a case by case basis
  • Orientation and training will be provided on your first day
  • Attire: clean and comfortable modest attire and closed toed shoes 
  • Parking lot is located behind the store or street parking is available
