Brief Organizational Description:
Boaz & Ruth creates holistic, innovative solutions to uplift individuals facing challenges like unemployment, underemployment, incarceration, and rehabilitation—empowering them to achieve independence while revitalizing the Highland Park community. We prioritize collaboration and presence, focusing on personal growth and community strength rather than simply providing aid. By consistently driving positive change, we’ve partnered with others to reduce crime by 67% and restore over a dozen commercial and residential properties—powerful symbols of renewed lives and a revitalized neighborhood.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Volunteer(s) will work with the maintenance team to paint interiors of housing units - it could be a paint refresh or painting room(s) in preparation for new tenants.
Our homes are affordable transitional housing units for up to 5 men who are striving to rebuild their lives - each home is managed by Boaz & Ruth. Some of our homes over 100 years old and are unique examples of architecture for that period of time.
Approximate Time Required: 4 -6 hours per painting day
Location: Highland Park Neighborhood, Richmond, VA 23222

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to lift 30 lbs or more
- This is a physical task that requires the use of paint brushes and paint rollers
- We want to provide dignity to our residents, so please be able to take pride in your work
- Attire: comfortable, modest attire and closed toed shoes that you won’t mind getting dirty or getting paint on.
Additional information:
- Hours will be logged and verified through our volunteer log - court ordered volunteers accepted on a case by case basis
- Orientation and training will be provided on your first day
- Parking lot is located behind the Harvest Thrift store at 3030 Meadowbridge or street parking is available
