Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:

Volunteering at Harvest Thrift is more than sorting clothes or stocking shelves—it's about transforming lives. As a volunteer, you’ll support a vibrant, community-focused thrift store that provides quality, affordable items to our neighbors while funding Boaz & Ruth’s mission to create pathways to housing stability and second chances.Every hour you contribute helps generate resources for our affordable housing initiatives, job training programs, and supportive services. By volunteering, you’re not only helping customers find great deals but also helping individuals and families in Richmond find stability and hope. Join us at Harvest Thrift and experience the joy of making a lasting impact. Whether you’re organizing merchandise, assisting customers, or sharing your unique skills, your time makes a difference!

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:

• help with sorting and organizing donated goods
• stocking priced items on the sales floor
• greeting customers and assisting with finding items
• organizing items on the sales floor 
• ringing up customer purchases and bagging purchased items 

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:

• retail and/or customer service experience preferred, but not required
• warmly greet and converse with thrift store customers and donors
• ability to lift and carry 20 lbs with or without assistance
• operate and maintain cash register
• ability to sort, clean and price items for display 

Time Commitment:
Harvest Thrift Volunteer(s) should be able to commit 4-6 hours per week in person. Days and times: Monday to Thursday 9:30am to 3:30pm, Friday 10:30am to 3:30pm. This can be broken into 1 to 2 shifts weekly. 

Other Information (if applicable):

• Hours will be logged and verified through our volunteer log - court ordered volunteers accepted on a case by case basis
• Orientation and training will be provided on your first day
• Attire: clean and comfortable modest attire and closed toed shoes 
• Parking lot is located behind the store or street parking is available
