About this Opportunity

Byrd Park Parks and Rec Office and Friends of Byrd Park are coming together to host a volunteer cleanup the morning after the July 4th festivities. The Big Show for Independence Day 2026 at Byrd Park will be the 69th annual City of Richmond free fireworks show. Every year, viewers get caught up in the moment and leave behind lots of trash- this is where we come in! Our volunteer group will be going around with gloves, trash picker tools, and buckets to get things back in order. Wear sun protection, clothing you don't mind getting possibly dirty, and comfortable footwear for lots of walking. Children are welcome as long as they are supervised for the full duration. Our work will be great support for parks maintenance staff who work tirelessly to keep our beautiful park clean and cared for. Meet at the Shields Lake gravel lot at 8:30, we will plan to clean up for 2 hours, weather permitting.

Meeting place: 2202 Shields Lake Dr, Richmond, VA 23220
