Kids Night In

Brief Organizational Description:
Village Green RVA seeks to harness the generosity of community resources to help families thrive. This includes preparing healthy and accessible food for community partners while also providing programming for foster, adoptive, and kinship families. 

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Kids Night In is a monthly program offered by Village Green RVA. It is offered at no cost to foster, adoptive, and kinship families. Participants can range in age from newborn-18 years old. They take part in lots of activities from games, arts/crafts, playground activities, dinner, cooking lessons, etc. This program allows the adults a few hours of much needed rest and relaxation while the kids have fun in a safe space!

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Volunteers may either volunteer in the kitchen or with kids groups. 

Kitchen volunteers will help prepare, cook, and serve dinner to participants. They will also help clean and reset the kitchen at the end of the program. 

Kids group volunteers will supervise and lead kids groups to the different activities in the building while making sure kids are staying together and safe. 

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
We require any volunteers of Kids Night In to watch a short training video explaining their responsibilities. We also will email a link to a background check that we provide. The background check is required to participate.

Time Commitment:
The program begins at 3:30pm, so we ask volunteers to arrive by 3pm. The program ends at 7pm and volunteers may leave then.

• We will email volunteers any information needed for the event.
• Training video and background check will be emailed to you.
• Please dress comfortably as you will actively be working in the kitchen or with kids.
• Parking lot is behind the building. There is lots of parking available.
