About this Opportunity
Many of Peru's medical facilities are lacking in staff and funds. It is a struggle to provide basic medical care to the population. There are too many patients in hospitals because they don't follow basic hygiene and healthy living practices. and doctors simply don't have time to teach them how to prevent certain illnesses. The central goal of FIMRC's Peru program is to provide staff support to Peru's Ministry of Health both in medical facilities and within the community.
Project Huancayo and Project La Merced are unique in that volunteers will gain exposure to public hospitals and clinics, offering a glimpse into systems of medicine vastly different from those in the US or privately run FIMRC clinics in other countries. Volunteers will have the opportunity to conduct rounds alongside medical personnel as well as assist our staff with community health campaigns tailored to the needs of each site.
