By becoming a Surgicare Escort Ambassador you can become a part of this team- ensuring that we provide the healthcare we'd like our loved ones to receive!

Volunteers in SurgiCare provide assistance to the Guest Relations and Surgicare staff, becoming a valuable part of the work that is done daily to care for our surgical and procedural patients. Through Volunteers the Surgicare team is able to:

1. Minimize anxiety and boredom by providing emotional support and meeting physical needs of patients and their family and friends.

2. Address comfort needs of the patients family and friends in a prompt and courteous manner.

3. Serve as a customer service liaison for staff to promote patient satisfaction.

4. Expedite care by performing routine tasks that support the staff.

5. Volunteers escorting help to form the first and last impression of a visit to St. Lukes through greeting, escorting, and acknowledging a persons departure.

Qualifications:

Volunteers in this assignment must:

1. Be an adult who is no longer in school and can commit to volunteering for 6 months without extended periods of leave (e.g. snowbirds).

2. Be able to push wheelchairs and operate the wheelchair mover

3. Be able to walk long distance repetitively/stand for up to 4 hour shifts.

5. Possess good hearing and listening skills.

6. Possesses a clear speaking voice and the ability to communicate clearly in English.
