Physical Therapy - Rehabilitation Volunteer
Description:
Make an immediate impact on our state of the art 26 bed Rehabilitation Unit. If you are interested in assisting Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists as they work with patients with strokes, head injuries and spinal cord injuries then this is the place for you. Patients on this unit are here from 2 weeks to 2 months so you will be able to see and be part of the incredible progress they make from day to day and week to week. Volunteers in this assignment are friendly, courteous and empathetic, have good communication and interpersonal skills and exercise good judgment.
Qualifications:
Volunteers in this assignment must:
1. Be friendly, courteous and empathetic.
2. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Exercise good judgment
4. Sensitive to the needs and concerns of patients and their families.
5. Possesses a clear speaking voice and the ability to communicate clearly in English.
6. Possesses high integrity and maintains confidentiality.
7. Able to walk/stand for up to a four-hour shift.
8. Good manual dexterity.
9. Understands and practices infection prevention.
10. Interest in a healthcare profession such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy a plus.
