About this Opportunity
This position is for a role as a blacksmith in the park's living history program. In the "Stories Beyond the Battlefield" series, we address the behind the scenes aspects of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge. The blacksmith program seeks to connect visitors to the daily lives of the colonists that fought in this battle. Previous blacksmithing experience is encouraged, however, training is available.
Join our living history program in commemorating this battle by taking on the appearance of a Colonial citizen and conducting blacksmithing demonstrations.
Duties include: Interacting with the public, forging metal tools, answering questions, cleaning and maintining supplies, etc.
Volunteers are held to the highest standards of National Park Service behavior.
Moores Creek has limited cell phone service and no Wi-Fi. Verizon and US Cellular are the two that have OK service, the others do not.
The National Park Service supports equal opportunity employment. All applicants will be reviewed equally regardless of race, gender, national origin, color, ethnicity, religion, disability, or other characteristics, without privilege, discrimination, or bias.
