About this Opportunity

The Community Caf Assistant assists the Community Caf Coordinator and/or staff in the operation of the cafe. Various tasks will be divided among all volunteers and will include greeting consumers, food preparation and serving, checking in with consumers, washing dishes and set-up/clean-up of the cafe and kitchen areas.

DAY NEEDED:Thursdays (4 hours)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs duties as directed by Community Caf Coordinator and/or staff.
  • Implements and carries out program policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that food safety procedures are followed and that meals are served attractively.
  • Tracks and reports volunteer hours and mileage to Community Caf Coordinator or staff as directed.
  • Helps to prepare Caf for meal service and clean-up
  • GENERAL EXPECTATIONS:

  • Maintains confidentiality of all consumer information.
  • Represents Eastern Area Agency on Aging positively by remaining flexible and maintaining a pleasant, friendly and sociable attitude.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for position-related requirements.
  • Provide at least 24 hours notice, whenever possible, when not able to attend scheduled volunteer time due to other obligations or illness.

    While performing the duties of this position, the volunteer is regularly required to sit, stand, and effectively communicate with others. The volunteer is occasionally required to climb stairs and walk short distances sometimes in adverse weather conditions. The volunteer must be able to lift and/or move up to 25-pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
