About this Opportunity

Do you love the Greater Portland area? Do you have a fondness for tourism? Do you enjoy meeting new people, talking travel plans, and helping visitors find their new favorite restaurants and attractions in Portland! If so, this opportunity is perfect for you!

The Southern Maine Agency on Agingis working with Visit Portland to recruit volunteers to engage with visitors in Portland!Information Center volunteers serve as the area's initial point of contact for visitors, both near and far. They elevate our community by connecting travelers with local businesses, fostering a warm welcome and sharing insights on how to forge unforgettable experiences. Volunteers will be a valuable resource for travelers searching for local tours, restaurants, attractions, and where to stay. The Visitor Information Center is well-stocked with brochures, Visitors Guides, maps of the region, and plenty of pro-tips and recommendations to help make the most of visitors stay in Greater Portland.

What will I do as a Visitor Center Volunteer?
Provide a warm and friendly welcome to visitorsfrom around the world stopping in at the Visitor Information Center to learnabout the Greater Portland area; offer suggestions and answer questionsabout travel and attractions in the Greater Portland area (training provided)!

When Will I Volunteer?

Volunteers may choose a weekly schedule (ideally 3-4 hours/week) and/or choose to pick from a calendar of options for a more flexible schedule. Visit Portland is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 4pm and Sunday 10am to 3pm all volunteering shifts take place within these hours.

*Snowbirds welcome! The Visitor Center is busiest during the summer months, so volunteer have the option to take a break during the quieter winter months.

Training & Support:

-Training is ongoing and provided to all volunteers, so that you can be "in-the-know" about activities going on throughout the city!
