About this Opportunity
Opportunity Overview:
Weir River Farm is the last working farm in Hingham. Currently the farm could use volunteers to assist in watering our flower planters, pollinator and herb gardens several times a week. If your passion is gardening, and you have a few hours a week to spare, we would enjoy sharing this amazing property with you! This position would be perfect for individuals who have a flexible schedule, enjoys the outdoors, and have a basic knowledge of gardening. The ideal candidate should be equally at home working independently as well as on a team.
Reports to: Stewardship Manager

- Work independently to water plant life on a consistent schedule, dependent on weather conditions
- Maintain communication with staff
- Adhere to The Trustees safety protocols
- Must self-report volunteer hours weekly
- Ability to use hand held irrigation tools such as hoses and watering wands with training by staff, able to learn irrigation needs of various plant life
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate with staff
- Dress in appropriate clothes and footwear that can get wet
- Ability to walk on a variety of surfaces including grass or uneven surfaces
- Ideal candidates would be able to commit to a consistent schedule
- Previous garden experience preferred, but not required
- Please note: a background check is required for this role
Flexible scheduling. The ideal candidate would be available several times a week, with possibly everyday watering during extremely dry conditions.
