About this Opportunity

The Lead Engagement Volunteer is a leadership position, reporting to and in volunteer partnership with paid staff colleagues which will often include managing volunteers. Responsibilities may include, but are not restricted to, assisting our staff by scheduling volunteers for events and workdays, providing regular communication and information to the volunteer team on upcoming opportunities and property updates, orienting volunteers to ‘day of’ projects and tasks, performing community outreach, communicating with volunteers to celebrate their milestones such as birthdays and occasionally leading workdays. In addition, specific settings may have specific needs and responsibilities. This role will include remote and on-property responsibilities.

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
  • Attend regular staff meetings 
  • Send weekly email to volunteer team with property updates and volunteer opportunities
  • Assist with community outreach
  • Sending weekly welcome emails to volunteers signed up for upcoming programs and events
  • Assist with ‘day of’ events and workdays to orient volunteers to projects and tasks 
  • Assist with volunteer appreciation and recognition events
  • Orient new volunteers to the property
  • Occasionally lead workshops and workdays
  • Educate the public about the goals of the Trustees and the benefits of being a Trustees’ member
  • Communicate regularly with staff
  • Adhere to The Trustees safety guidelines and protocol
  • Log volunteer hours weekly
Qualifications:
  • Have reliable transportation to the property
  • Knowledge of any of the following: local history, ecology, conservation, trail maintenance and sustainable practices [preferred, not required]
  • Prior event management experience [preferred, not required]
  • Desire to meet with the public, and share knowledge of The Trustees
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with the public (desired, not required)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Personal computer with reliable internet and phone for performing remote projects
  • Experience with Microsoft programs [including Word, PowerPoint and Excel]
  • Please note: A background check is required for this role
Time Commitment:​ Volunteers will serve about 3-4 hours per week, including meeting time. Most of the work is flexible and can be done remotely, but staff meetings will be on weekdays and events and workdays will have scheduled times.
