Costco Pick-Up

Brief Organizational Description:
Village Green RVA seeks to harness the generosity of community resources to help families thrive. This includes preparing healthy and accessible food for community partners while also providing programming for foster, adoptive, and kinship families. 

Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Costco Pick-Up happens every Tuesday and every Thursday at 10am. We need volunteers to help pick up the items from Costco and deliver them to Village Green RVA. This usually takes from about 10am-11am. It is a quick opportunity, but it is invaluable to Village Green RVA.

The items received from Costco will immediately be turned into meals for the community, be delivered to Community Fridges, or be distributed amongst community partners.

Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
It is best if volunteers have some sort of SUV or van as we often get cases of items, but anyone is welcome to volunteer. Volunteers will pull around to the back of Costco in Midlothian and ring their doorbell on the cargo door. They will open the door and bring the items out to cars. Once items are loaded, volunteers will drive them to Village Green where it will be unloaded to our kitchen.

Qualifications, Skills, & Requirements:
It is best if the automobile used is an SUV or van. We cannot use open-bed trucks for this task.

Volunteers must be able to put food items into their car. Costco will not load it for us. 

Time Commitment:
Pickup begins at 10am. Once items are loaded and driven to Village Green RVA, they will be unloaded there. This is usually finished before 11am.

• Volunteers will be sent an email with any information needed once they have signed up. 
• Dress comfortably to load and unload items.
